He worked in the policy and program development area of sustainable agriculture for the Federal Department of Agriculture for fifteen years.

Rus is a Qualified Person accredited with IP Australia specialising in PBR of fruit trees and Australian Native Plants. He also is a grower and producer of native fruits and foliage on the north coast of NSW.
